I’m Thankful

November 30, 2007

Here are a few shots from thanksgiving. There are a ton, but i just wanted to show a few images that are about who i am grateful for….my family. Yes, call me sappy, call me what you will, but, when i look at these photos they are the real deal. Sophia, my daughter, has the best shaped profile ever…hahaha…those are the things i notice when taking these shots. Her little legs in those stripped leggings, AHHH! simply the best. I’ve been given a lot, now God help me to love what i have in the best way possible.

hope you experienced joy about what you have on thanksgiving!

cheers,

david

On November 3rd, i was able to photograph the “Heart of Rock n’ Roll” benefit at the inspiring Samueli theatre for Music for a Cure. This was a benefit to continue raising funds to bring music to critically ill children or children with financial needs. The Guests hands we’re waving just as high during the auction as they were when Sugar Ray and Smash Mouth entertained. Once again Zoe productions conquered with the decor design!

MFAC is a local non-profit that i have been involved with for the past year. My Friend Murphy, bass player for Sugar Ray, and his wife Julie started MFAC to bring music to critically ill children or children with financial needs. They are doing amazing things here in our orange county community (i.e. working on bringing Choc hospital a check for 1 million dollars this year for the birth of a much needed music therapy program).

I came across this photo from my brother in law’s wedding over the summer, thought i should show the another side of me. Drew & Ashley’s wedding was the best! And i must say it was so fun to be in the wedding, i mean, i love being behind the camera, but the bridal party role is NICE too!

Make sure to check out Ashley’s site. She’s an incredible hair extension artist in orange county. She was on “the real OC” ya know..hahaha.

the grand entrance of all timeAbout a month ago I had the privilege of covering Sarah & Deepak’s wedding, in Las Vegas, with a good friend of mine, Joe Photo. This was The most amazing wedding I have ever experienced. I believe they invested about 2 million dollars into their day. There were 650 guests, trapeze artists, an elephant, and needless to say a WHOLE LOT of celebration in the air. The Bridal party entertained the grand entrance like no other! Sarah & Deepak, however, won the award for “grand entrance of all time,” with their pyro technics show. I think I could blog about this wedding for the rest of the year. Sarah & Deepak, we’re so gracious, kind, and FUN! Something is to be said about two people coming together from completely different cultures, lifestyles, and faiths, and yet, they, their families, and even the guests we’re so full of love. powerful.

Here are a bunch of my fav’s from the day. It was tough to select images, there were so many and every scene of the day was filled with joy, color, and elegance. S&D I celebrate you! May the investment of your wedding speak of a powerful marraige forever.

cheers!

There are so many photos that I took, I just can’t help but post them. I hope they’re interesting to you, although, it’s great to depict a trip by writing it or photographing it, it’s just not the same as being there. For me, this was a trip about “space.” I live in the almost perfect town of Laguna Beach, Ca. and i absolutely love it, But there isn’t a lot of open space, other than the ocean, of course. Driving with the breeze in your face, U2′s Joshua tree on the radio, and a nice cup of coffee, really reminds me that there is a huge unchartered world out there. I want to see more of it! Gratefully, I have been around much of the world, but there is so much i haven’t seen yet. More destination weddings (with me as the photographer), that’s what the world needs!

This couple was so great! Her dress was rockin!

Ever seen “hells kitchen?” I’m not much for tv, but meet sarah, the pioneer town motel manager & cook. She was so sweet and made us feel so welcome with some GOOOD food. somebody said she was the mean one on the tv show, HUH? Sarah, MEAN!? ya right.

Happy 60th Dad!

November 6, 2007

Gary John Tosti was born in Melrose park, IL November 4th, 1947. This last saturday, Alli, Sophia, and I went out to Lake Elsinore to celebrate my dad’s 60th Birthday. We spent the day at his house, eating WAY too much GOOD food prepared by his wife Julia. Almost our entire family from CA. came out to the party. Sophia, my favorite, had a good time with the hose. check the slideshow for that!

Dad, we celebrate you! Love you, david.

Athol Dickson shoot

November 2, 2007

A few weeks ago i had the privilege of working with an author whom i really respect. I was given a book a few years ago by rob bell (a pastor/writer) who told me that i would love this book The Gospel according to Moses (what my Jewish friends taught me about Jesus). It IS a great book. Then a few weeks ago i received a call from Athol who coincidentally I go to church with here in Laguna. (I shot most of the work on that site) Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot. Make sure to check out Athol’s site and get ready for his new book “Winter Haven” which will also have one of these photos inside!athol dicksonathol dickson crossed armsAthol dickson leaning on wall
